Every New Year brings on New challenges….maybe it’s spend more time with your kids, or get that old car in the garage working again. For many the goal may be to Lose a few pounds.
Some would say this post is a little out of sorts to be on a Chiropractic blog, but hang in there, in a little bit i’ll explain in a bit how diet can contribute to your CNS functioning well.
However, from a personal point of view, I see people go on all kinds of garbage diets this time of year, and it makes me a little sick. I think we should look for a lifestyle modification, to stay healthy. Some diets restrict their calories, you have NO energy, and Your Nervous system NEEDS to have carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are not BAD, Forget the Adkins Diet.
Your central nervous system, or CNS, and the brain, the control center of your CNS, need a continuous supply of glucose in order to function properly. While most other cells in the body can survive at least temporarily on alternate sources of energy, the CNS must have glucose, of which carbohydrates are the primary source. Glucose is also essential to optimal function of your body’s red blood cells, according to the authors of “Understanding Nutrition.”
SO, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research before you decide to go on some fad diet and destroy your body as your loosing “all that weight”.
The biggest problem I see is that
Most People Don’t have a PLAN!
There’s been times in my life, I would like to weight less, or have the image in the mirror looking back at me show something different. A few years ago, I really got into the P90X program, and I loved it…but it did take alot of time, I realized how important eating properly and exercising together really helped that mirror image.
A while back, I started getting that 2:30 tiredness, and realized that it was that my sugars were dropping, and that I really needed to get back on a decent meal plan. I started drinking Monster energy drinks. I knew they weren’t great for me, so I started looking into alternatives. We found an alternative called Verve. It also had vitamins added to it, which was good. (I usually don’t take supplements, so it being in the drink was a bonus)
Here’s the cool part about this program. Not only was it designed by Chris and Heidi, it has an ap that allows you to have Chris and Heidi act as YOUR OWN personal trainers, coaching you every day, easily and effectively on your smartphone. The best part about this particular system is just that….it’s a system. It was set up to make life easy for you, and take out the excuses of, when do I eat, or how much, or what if I’m out and about, and it’s time to eat, but I’m at a Wendy’s….
Now, Like I said, I don’t like pushing any particular program in the office, but I like this one, because it’s so easy to use, and it’s set up well. There are other good Lifestyle eating plans, and please feel free to check those out. This is the one my family is using, so I thought I’d pass it along… Please do yourself a favor and get on something that will be GOOD for your body! I can’t imagine eating 500 calories could be good for you, or an all cabbage diet!
That’s not a life style change…it just won’t last. Think long term when your thinking about making changes in your lifestyle. Just like Chiropractic care, its something you do to maintain your health over the long term, not a “fad”. You can’t go to the gym one time and expect amazing results. Health is earned.
